ROYAL CANADIAN AIR CADET SQUADRON

SQUADRON TEAMS

104 ‘Starfighter’ RCACS Brantford prides itself on the many options for teams it offers. Please discover these teams below and see what interests you!

Ground School

Aviation is an important aspect of the Air Cadet Program. Through hard work and dedication, cadets have an opportunity to apply for a Scholarship to obtain either their Glider Pilots License or Private Pilot License, free of charge.

104 is proud to offer an in-person Ground School at the Brantford Airport to help develop an interest in aviation as well as prepare cadets to apply for one of the scholarships. In Ground School cadets learn about Theory of Flight, Meteorology, Air Law, Aviation Careers and much more! Ground School is open to all cadets, whether they are currently applying for a scholarship, plan to in the future, or just have an interest in aviation.

Effective Speaking and Debate

The Effective Speaking and Debate program is two programs in one. Effective Speaking is a public speaking program designed to, in a safe and non-judgemental way, develop speaking skills, self-confidence, and the potential for leadership.

The Debate program teaches Parliamentary style debate. Cadets will develop research skills, logic, team tactics, and the confidence to stand up, make a good case and support it. These all are excellent life skills and will work well in school too. Good leaders can examine all aspects of a problem. Debate teaches this.

Drill Team

If you like drill, want to improve on your drill, or want to be a part of an important tradition here at 104 Starfighter then look no further. The primary goal of a drill team is to demonstrate discipline, teamwork, and precision through coordinated performances.  As a team, you will work together to practice and perform both a compulsory routine and a freestyle routine as a unit. Drill Team helps to not only improve your drill but also gives a sense of confidence and accomplishment as you master the movements within the routines. All are welcome to try out and come to practices to help improve/ master their skills.

Band

The 104 Squadron band is a Military brass and reed band. We train weekly to prepare for ceremonial events the Squadron participates in.

These include Commanding Officer inspections, Mess dinners and the Annual Ceremonial Review. The band is also active in community events showcasing the hard work in parades, concerts, and a choreographed routine.

After a long 4-year hiatus, 104s Air Rifle Marksmanship Team is back! The marksmanship program will develop the cadet’s interest in marksmanship, while also promoting the safe use of a firearm, and building upon the concepts of leadership, and citizenship. Our teams are chosen after weeks of tryouts and continue practicing until the Regional Competition in February.
