"STARFIGHTER"
ROYAL CANADIAN AIR CADET SQUADRON
Welcome to 104 "Starfighter" Squadron
WHAT WE DO
This is what it’s all about – activities that offer challenge, excitement, adventure and knowledge.
Don’t worry about being thrown in at the deep end; once you join you will get to know the other cadets and start your recruit training. You will be gradually introduced to activities as you progress, so you can make the most of every opportunity that comes your way.
The best part: THERE IS NO COST TO FAMILIES!!
GET OUT AND GET ACTIVE!
Cadet life is about learning through practical experience, especially in the great outdoors! This can be experienced by participating in a Field Training Exercise (FTX), specialty training activities and also by attending advanced Summer Training Programs.
Cadets can earn a training salary while attending summer training!
Cadets also participate in vairous citizenship activities throughout the year, satisfying the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma!
Once a month, the Sqn participates in recreational sports including volleyball, running, basketball, dodgeball, and many other creative games designed by senior Cadets.
FLYING
Flying is central to our purpose and your experience. You’ll have the opportunity to take to the skies in our various aircraft:
Gliding – Soar to success! There are fantastic opportunities to glide while you are a cadet, with the ultimate goal of becoming a Glider Pilot or Private Pilot and taking that solo flight.
Glider Scholarship – Feel the thrill of free flight, this six-week summer training course is an intensive program of ground school and in-flight glider pilot training. Cadets who successfully complete their flight test and Transport Canada (TC) written exam will qualify for a Glider Pilot Licence and be awarded Air Cadet Glider Pilot Wings.
Power Scholarship – The pinnacle of your Cadet career. This seven-week summer training course is an intensive program of ground school and in-flight pilot training. Cadets who successfully complete their flight test and Transport Canada (TC) written exam will qualify for a Private Pilot Licence and be awarded Air Cadet Pilot Wings.
Think You Can Lead?
You may have more talent for it than you think. Leadership qualities are in all of us and one of our goals is to bring them out. In addition to the Leadership training you will learn on regular parade nights you will have the opportunity to attend leadership courses during the summer. Make it through and you’ll be a more confident and responsible cadet having learned the full benefits of working in and leading a team.
Then, for an extra challenge, you could find yourself staffing at any of the Cadet Summer Training Centers in Canada.
